Artists in the House
Joyce Conv
erse
Over the last decade Joyce has focused mainly on plein air landscape in oil. Joyce uses her work to continually learn from and also translates her life experience into two dimensions. Her work is in private collections across the country. You can view a large selection of her pieces in the main dining room near our stone fireplace and community table at the Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant & Inn.
Barbara Makanowitzky
A distinguished author, Barbara also expresses her creativity in another medium with pastel. Barbara’s main characters in her framed pastels are the ocean. “When I see the sea roiling, and I like it that way, I don’t like the calm- I find so many patterns.” Come in and view Barbara’s pieces today.
Roberta Lee Woods
Roberta Lee Woods is a painter and collage artist inspired by nature and its many layers of color and texture. She creates the mood and atmosphere of the ocean near her home. Recent travel to Holland, Czech Republic and Belize has led to series of both paintings and photography capturing old world light and texture. (www/robertaleewoods.com) She is inspired by Dutch Masters such as Vermeer and Rembrandt, as well as more contemporary artists: Marc Rothko, Joseph Cornell, and Helen Frankenthaler. She received a B.F.A. at The Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, MD, and a M.A. from CSU, Chico in Digital Imagery. She continues to explore art processes, including encaustic, paper making and book arts. She also offers workshops in collage at her studio.
